C.S.I GOOD SHEPHERD Cheran ma Nagar
CSI Good Shepeard church, Cheranmanagar was built in August 1989, It was inaugurated by then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Kalaingar Dr. M. Karunanidhi. Before Christians settled here went to CSI Immanuvel Church, CSI Christ Church Trichy Road and CSI Christ Church, Gandhipuram for worship.
Everyone in Cheranma Nagar got to know each other and became united and began to gather and pray during special occasions. Considering the difficulty of going to the church in other areas, the people wanted a prayer united in Cheranma nagar.
Everyone gathered at A-2 Cheranma nagar, House of Mr. Gunasingh, First Wednesday evening Jube 1993. Prayed and formed the “Christian Welfare Association”.
By the great grace of God, on 25th June 2000, this Church was consecrated by Bishop William Moses.On the same day, the Bishop consecrated the land at the new place and inaugurated the stone slab.On that day, the first consecration service was held and the Bishop consecrated the new parishioners.
On 30-09-2000 by Bishop. M. Durai the great grace of God laid the foundation stone of the Church. On that day the consecration day was marked for him.The construction of the Church was completed in 85 days and the Church was consecrated on 24-12-2000 at 9.00 am by Bishop M. Durai.Then in June 2005. Rev D. Rajendrakumar officiated Church service. After that, the Toilet, Sexton House and Compound wall of the Church were completed one after the other.
In February 2008, work on the Bell Tower began and was underway. Rev D. Rajendrakumar went on leave, so retired Rev Paul Jaysingh Das took charge as the temporarily and took care of the Church work. By God’s great grace, this Church bell tower was consecrated on 18-01-2009 by Bishop M. Durai.
